North Shore/Gunflint Trail on Lake Superior is pretty nice. Just skip the tourist trap towns. Is it the most beautiful, probably not, but it's still an excellent drive.

Been up there plenty too. It gets a little narrow in a few places but otherwise not bad. There is a snowdrift to watch out for, usually doesn't melt until late July.
Did you stop at Vista view on the beartooth? You can see Hellroaring across the valley from there.

I do agree is beautiful, but the most? That I disagree with. IMHO the "Going to the Sun Road" in Glacier NP is most beautiful, and a close 2nd is "17 mile drive" in Carmel Ca.
How long does it take to drive from Rock Creek to the Plateau and back??
Have wanted to drive that road for over 40 years and seems weather goes to hell on me and road closes.

Hmmm...45 minutes each way? Air down if you can, there are a few rocky areas and can get a little bouncy. And there was a big boulder in the middle of the road at one point, not sure if they moved it. The FS stance on the road is they don't care to maintain it anymore....if it washes out then thats it, road closed for good. So if you want to go, go soon.

The road to the glacier lake trailhead is worth a drive too - same area just follow the road to the left last the MK campground. Its become a favorite weekend camping area so it gets busy but mid week it isn't bad. can be a little rough in spots and you never know when you're going to run face to face with a UTV or a 30' RV so you need to go slow.

The million dollar highway between Silverton and Ouray is definitely in the top couple for me.
Made it up Hell Roaring Road on Wed. Total of 14 miles in 4Lo 1st or 2nd gear - about 4 hour drive.
Couple pics -

That's pretty awesome. We'll be out that way in a couple weeks, I'll have to check Hell Roaring Rd out.

Yes - about 5 mph - plenty of stops for pics and about 1/2hour or so hike at top.
Could probably make in in 2wd - but why, that's what gears are for.
First Post here.....As I've not been everywhere in America, I can't say what the MOST beautiful drive is, I can agree that the Beartooth Pass, The PCH are both incredible. We just got back from the Blue Ridge parkway (500 miles and not a single stop sign!!!). Went through the Smokey Mnt. Natl. Park and it may have been the best ride I ever had (we were on our Harleys). Drove out west in June to North rim of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Canyon Land Natl. Park, Arches NP and Monument Valley. Came back to KC via Gunnison, Ouray, Durango and Silverton Colorado. They all had their own flavor and were each beautiful, incredible and awesome in their own way. Just lucky to live here in the good Ole' USA and to be able to go explore this great nation!!!
