My brother just came home from college, so it's time to show off the family traditions. Each of us kids' (4 of us) first cars were 4Runners. And with these, all our neighbors think we are crazy!

Mine is the wannabe Highlander, my bro's is the other one, a Desert Dune Limited, and red Tacoma...all 99's haha

Just outta curiosity... Why do people take the time to block out their license plate when they post pics??? Thousands of people see it when you're driving so it's really no secret.:shrug:

Haha, good question John. I just do it cause Photo Bucket makes it so easy, just a couple clicks. I've just always seen it done so I do it too. I can't really think of any info you could steal with a license plate number...

it makes him feel better plus there are plenty of online scams that have been run just by seeing someone elses plates online. Plus if they're on a forum on which flame wars are common, they may want to preclude the possibility of anyone carrying a dispute into real life by finding out where they live and slashing their tires. Also there are people out there that can use the license plate number to find out the name and address of the owner. The odds of something nefarious happening when the license plate is seen on the road, zero. The odds of some wacko with too much time on his hands on the internet using the plate number to find out who the owner is, slim but there is the chance.

Not to beat a dead horse but how are "The odds of something nefarious happening when the license plate is seen on the road, zero" when I can take the same info off any car an the road to the net and do the same things? Sorry, but I have to question the accuracy of that statement :shrug:

Because they already know what kind of car you have . . . they're following you. If they're going to do something they're going to do it. It won't have anything to do with the license plate. And they're not going to take down your plate and come back another day after they've calmed down?

I highly doubt anyone has ever pulled up behind you at a stop light and thought to themselves, "THAT'S HIM!! SJW-5149!! I've been looking for this plate since that day he cut me off and I didn't do anything about it but write down his plate number and hope to track him down on the internet so I could find him on another day!!"
