The never ending Air Conditioning

A shim or shims. Turn an old lock ring into one. Or some such.

Of course that means you have to futz with the pulley shims. Again :-)

Im not sure lock rings are a thing here. Shimming behind the magnet would work but I dont want it coming into contact with the pulley and shorting out. Whatever I shim with, it has to be btwn the snap ring and the magnet. I think I will try flipping the snap ring first.

Seems like a new DENSO compressor might have been easier man. Of course you would have to vacuum down and refill the system but you could be sure to rely on the new compressor.

Back in the day (2014), I rebuilt my entire AC system for just around $600 bucks with Denso parts from Amazon. That was 4 years ago and still blows cold air at 38 degrees on "cold" setting. Here is a write up:

Final A/C update. I have thrown in the towel. In a desperate attempt to the get the field coil to stay in place I used JB weld. It was working fantastic but I guess the coil is slightly out of alignment and now the pulley wont slide over the compressor shaft. I'm leaving this island permanently in less than 60 days. I'm also leaving the replacement compressor I purchased for the next owner should they choose to pursue fixing it. I would have replaced it myself but limited island resources and lack of skilled a/c mechanics means big bucks for the few that do have the tools work on them. So Im done with the A/C system. Hopefully my next 4runner wont have this problem, but I will have access to vastly better resources to fix it.
