Thai is correct... I think the pic in the background is the new LX/Landcruiser. The pic posted before is of the new (08?) Sequoia.

The more i look at it...the more i think that the SUV in the picture is just an update (aka face lift) of the current TLC/LX. The proportions are all the same. You would think that the next gen TLC would be bigger, esp. with the much bigger engine in there.

The LC platform is used around the world where bigger isn't always considered to be better. The Sequoia nicely handles the "bigger" duty for the North American market. I would rather not see the LC become too bloated.

This is probably true. However, the USA market is still the most important market for most manufacturers. And in the USA, you have huge SUVs with very practical 3rd row seats. Granted, you can always get a Sequoia. But a Sequoia is not a Lexus. The 3rd row seats on Toyota SUVs have not been it's selling points in terms of space and user-friendliness. Lexus does need something to fight against Caddy Escalades, Mercedes GL450, and Lincoln Navigators. Granted, none of these vehicles can hold a candle to LX470's quality and off-road ability. However, not many Americans take a fullsize SUV off-road these days (except for those on fanatics on ih8mud). Lexus LX sales have been slowing down...and i think GX too for that matter.
