When I first saw this video I thought it was nothing special but when I read the description of the Video that it was towing another vehicle on a dolly, I was impressed. The acceleration capability of the V8 under load is very well demonstrated in this video.

I really doubt the reliability of the guys description for 2 reasons:

1) The Acceleration is simply too fast to have a 3000lb load.

2) He says its a V8. If you look hard at around the 11sec mark you can see it's in 2H. What 4x4 V8 has a 2H setting?

What was the bet? How do we know what he's even pulling since there's no vid of that. Pretty weak video really showing nothing.

:iagree: I was going to say the look at the 4WD selector, it's in 2H. I hate to knock another fellow owner, but that video lost all credibility. :bs:

Well I learned something new. I have never owned a 4WD so I would not know or be able to tell by the video that it was BS

I guess different 4WD options and Modes are mated to different engines such as the V6 and V8? Is this a correct assumption?

Yes. The V6 has a 2WD mode, but the V8 doesn't. It is always in 4WD.

Don't believe anything in that video. I looked at the comments and someone is already calling his bluff, saying the V8 doesn't sound like that. He further tries to argue back that it has unknown mods by his friend. Either the guy is a complete d*****bag and knows squat about 4Runners or he's posting someone else's video. I'm going to say it's a 16 year old taking daddy's 4R for a cruise and "flake pimping" as my coworker calls it.

He claims it's a 2007 V8 with air suspension and X-REAS, which means it has to be a V8 Limited. Air suspension is only available on the V8 Limited. But if you look at the gauges those are not Limited gauges, (SR5 or Sport Edition) and the climate control is NOT dual-zone (I don't recall the bezel color combination on SR5 and SE). Furthermore, the steering wheel is not leather wrapped and it has no audio controls (standard on SE and Limited).

My conclusion is that's a 2006 or 07 SR5 V6 4WD.

The 2WD doesn't have the selector knob to the left of the climate control. The V6 is identical to the V8's 4WD system and it adds the ability to be driven in 2WD (2H). This is on all 4th gens.

If you're interested about the powertrains (regardless of 2WD or 4WD), 2003-2004 V6s have a 4-speed transmission. 2005+ V6s have a 5-speed transmission. 2005+ V8s have VVT-i. All V8s come with a 5-speed transmission. Toyota made powertrain upgrades for MY 2005.

That sounded nothing like a V8. I like all of those magical mods that the truck had! This guy better check his air pressure before doing another race!
