The sliders work well as a replacement for the running boards. My girlfriend is 5'3 and one before was 5'2 and didnt have any issues. Recommendation for step to help Grandma is a company that makes stirrups that hook over the door sill on Jeeps. I am sure you could make a tab to hook it to the sliders. Another idea I saw on a big rock buggy was he welded two pieces of timing chain to his sliders down to a 1x1 steel tube. Think of a step from a rope ladder. This way it was a step there to help climb in but would easily fold or move out of the way off-road.

What about checking out your local marine store? You might be able to mod something there. There's all types of steps that tuck up and hide away on boats.

Cool the stirrup dohicky looks like it would work for my wife but I could not imagine my mother using it.
I am thinking a nice folding step stool for her.

I am sure there has to be something somewhere.

I really do not want to put the stock running boards back on, does not look as good, lowers my ground clearance, and apparently dirties up your pants leg to boot.

I was gonna suggest that. Keep the step stool folded behind the seat and grab it when its needed.

Exactly they are like $20, light, fold up to around 2" thick and can slide in about anywhere out of the way.

OK talked it over with the wife and she says she thinks the "Rock Slider" option sounds feasible to her.
She says she can get her leg up there but her main problem was that without any bar or running board at all there was no place to stand on and then get into
the truck. You have to do the all one motion stepping up and then into the truck all in one motion was too much for short legs to handle.

Myself I am only 5'10" but I just put my right leg up to towards the gas pedal and jump right in no problem at all.

So next question is.

What would be the best sliders to get that wont break the bank, look good.

Keeping in mind that very rarely if ever will I be using them to actually walk the truck around big boulders or really using them for their intended purpose.
In fact probably the best use I will get out them in that regard is probably protection from those big huge Cadillac doors that people like to bash the hell out of your doors with in parking lots, or shopping carts etc.

So they don't have to be some massive welded on true Rock Slider to the extreme, but just nice and do the job.

Think I would prefer bolt on ones if they are decent and will bolt right up where the stock runners used to be.

What would be best options and prices.

If I did the weld on ones, what would be the average price of having that done? Are they any better for my purposes?
Any cheaper?

I currently have All-Pros $269, some feel they are a little short for the rock crawling but have served me well. 4x4 inovations are the right length and also a very good price. Average cost to have welded on is probably $150 range give or take $20.

I have the same issue with my girlfriend. She is 5'1" and has to use the running boards. I hate them, but not enough to get grief about them. I'm just going to go with sliders when I lift because I'll use them and she can still step onto them.

Well the 4XInnovations looks like they are about $100 cheaper.
are about $229 including shipping.

I assume the price ($160.00) I see on their site is for a PAIR and not for a single side, it really doesn't say.
Though it does say the word "kit" and it does show a couple of pictures of both driver & passenger sides in a single picture

So both sliders shipped to door and both installed/welded should be somewhere around $325?

Their appear to be bare metal so maybe another $20 what ever a good spray on truck bed liner paint and maybe some grip tape cost.

For your application the shrockworks sliders might work out ok. They are bolt on. I will get weld-ons soon, but I plan on using them as a jacking point. The shrockworks cost 415 I believe, but they come powdercoated and you wont have to pay a welder.

Would still end up costing at least $100 more depending on shipping.

The 4XInnovations are $160 plus $68 shipping, so around $229.00
I called the local 4X4 place in town and he said about 2 hours to weld on the sliders and it was $150.

So about $400 counting painting them with bed liner and maybe grip tape.

If weld on is better I may as well go with that especially if they are cheaper.
