^ Absolutely gorgeous. I must get out west next year.

Never being there before and knowing how many great places exist, if I had 6 days out there, where would you recommend we go with a higher end of moderate budget?

I've always dreamed of Whistler, Telluride, Steamboat, and Jackson Hole but I don't know if any of them make the most sense for a family of intermediate "east" skiers. Me, my wife, and 21 and 17 yo sons. Kid friendly resorts with stellar lessons programs are not important.

Alta, Utah.
average annual snowfall 500+ inches.
NO SNOWBOARDS!!! Just skiers.
Stay at the Alta Peruvian Lodge. At base of mountain. Not luxury accommodations but a great ski lodge. Family friendly. Big hot tub pool and regular heated pool.
Easy to get there. @ 45 minutes from Salt Lake City.

An intermediate East Coast skier is an advanced-expert skier out here.

Just got them last month. Had about a week of snow on the ground, maybe 4 inches. Got the 700 up to about 115 and the 500 up to about 85-90 before running out of room on the lake. Had a blast the three times or so times we got to take them out. Picked a great winter to buy winter toys. Still waiting on a decent snow fall. This winter sucks.

We spent a long weekend up in Summit County for my birthday. Copper on Saturday, Winter Park on Sunday, Copper on Monday, then came home Monday and got some mountain biking in.

It’s that time of the year again, Colorado ski season started a month agai, most of the resorts are open. I’m on a business trip currently but I’m itching to get home and hit the slopes!
