random 2cents....suggestion on the rims...u done a very good job painting your factory rims sooooo.....had a vision LOL...ur wheels blked out and the lug nuts and the 4 nuts left the chrome...never seen someone paint these wheels..

what lug nuts did you end up using for those wheels. i was told you need a tuner style lug nut but they're stupid expensive.

I found a set at my local pep-boys that fit okay. They are "Import" style. I may get a nicer set, but these seem to be working okay. I honestly forget the brand.

I like those wheels, they are not as common and look good. Bummer about the issues, but at least you're getting everything swapped out!

Good choice on the lift, I think you will love that combo. 890s and 5125s ride really nice. Looking forward to pictures!

My buddy and I were talking about that, but there's two things holding me back.
1. These are semi-rare - they don't come up for sale that often. So I'd kinda like to leave them original

2. If I did paint them, I'd have them powder coated. They're a SUPER nice set so I'd never want it peeling or flaking, and a good powder-coating can be a bit pricey.

So.... stock silver for now :nerd:

Yeah took a gamble based on the Amazon reviews, and one guy and a pic of it on a 3rd Gen. Looked pretty good. My only concern was wind noise, so I was happy it came with the fairing. Even with the lights on top, I can't notice any noise when the sunroof is closed.

Yeah for sure! I'm over in Costa Mesa. There's very few 4x4s out here in the beach cities. I bought mine off my boss and its originally a midwest car. So its got all the 4x4 goodies:guitar2:

yeah, hopefully I can find one. I don't need one until November. I do have an FJ out here that is my Wife's car, it's not lifted, but if you go on any easy trails, I'd love to tag along.

Got the painless harness in last night. Mounted it up on the firewall inside the car. Its above the pedals and up to the left so I can still get to the fuses:

I'll finish up the wiring for the lights this weekend...

Also - Treadright shipped my "5th tire" spare. I got the M/Ts for the truck and a A/T for my spare. These things look GOOD!

Next up is the lift & Tires. I have my tires on order and decided to go with the Treadwright MTs. With all the issues I had with the cooling system, my tire budget went out the window. These were a great cheap alternative, and seem to have gotten really good reviews on a lot of different forums. At the very least they'll do the job till i can afford a better set

My Spare is the cheaper A/T design (BFG). They usually try to match it to a BFG Carcass, but were out of stock at the time. Since its just my spare, and I didn't want to wait a month - They offered me a Nitto or Yoko carcass.

So I decided to tackle my plugs, wires, and MAF today. After swapping them out, I'm convinced I was only running on 5 cylinders. 5/6 plugs where white - probably from when she dumped her coolant a few weeks ago. I'm sure they got very hot when that happened. however one of the plugs was dripping with oil, and I imagine wasn't firing correctly.

The truck seems to idle WAY better, and some of the hesitation at speed seems to be gone. I love easy fixes!

Not hard at all... took me about 45mins taking my time

Same way I had done my jeep a long time ago...

Sanded with 100grit, cleaned & degreased, adhesion promoter, 4-coats of spray-on bedliner from a rattle can.

They hold up pretty well, and touchups are easy. It'll hold me over until I get an Outdoor Logic bumper down the road.:cheers:

Okay... Haven't updated anything in a few weeks. I just spent the weekend putting in my lift since my Treadright M/Ts came in! Its a Toytec 3" lift using Eibach front springs, bilstein shocks, OME 890 rear springs with bilstein shocks. I also upgraded my front SB bushings while I was under there. Tires are 285/75 Treadright M/Ts.

Here's one of them lined up with the truck... definitely needs the lift!

Next I started tearing down the suspension...

I brought my new shocks/springs to my tire shop to have them assembled since I hate home-use compressors - they only charged me $20!

Diff Drop is in...

Front is done with new shocks, springs, end links, and bushings:

On to the rear...

I could not - for the life of me - get the bolts on the Toytec shock bracket tightened down enough. After a few miles of driving I could hear them clanking, so I brought them to my local shop to have them welded in. Clanking is gone!

Finally went to get the new Tires mounted! They balanced well, and seem to drive great so far.

nice rig! if i may make a suggestion though... get a skid plate on there asap, id hate to see your new rad destroyed as i hangs down below the bumper and is susceptible to fod(foreign object debris) hitting the lower tank and splitting it...

Skid is in the garage - I'm going to do my Power Steering bushings, so I left it off for now. i'm just commuting to work this week (4 miles on paved side streets):cowboy:
