The worst part of a 3rd gen?

After searching for over 5 months, I have zero regrets owning a 3rd gen.

Not the worst thing by far, but since it has not been mentioned yet - the doors not staying open even on the most mild of inclines.

I can cope, the wife less so, and the little ones, it's a problem...

I learned of those in another thread, I think my "ownership/build" thread. It seems that after a couple years the checks are shot again. I'd even consider 84 bucks a pop, and I need all four, but if they won't last all that long, I'm not so keen on the idea...

Totally understand. The (much older, though slightly less used) ones on my '89 Camry still work perfectly. Made of metal instead of plastic.

Any chance to use those Camry ones on these 3rd gen Runners? Was wondering even if the 4th gen door checks can be used on ours...
