What is the deal with yeti just seems like an over priced cooler with no benifts besides name. What is it that makes them so good?

One it's ability to deliver what it says if you use it correctly. It lasts. When you pic one up you know it quality. We did a 5 day over night river trip and lived out of that cooler. All our food, water everything. I still took ice home from that trip. I could never do that with my other expensive Columbia soft cooler. It just didn't last or hold up. It lasted 6 months and after that the insulation begin breaking down. It would hold ice for two days and be done.
I have not bought and hard cooler but I will be buying one in the feature. I want one for hunting and fishing trips to bring food home. If you look and the cost to ship and cut up and processed elk it pays for its self the first time almost. Just how I look at it. I can ice it down and take home Alot of fish fron trips. It can handle dry ice also most coolers can't .
I look at gear as investments. Camping, fishing, my 4runner etc. I want them to last and if I have to pay a little more for it then I'm ok with that. I'll only buy it one time vs the countless other things I have bought 2 or 3 times now. Like cheep tools. I don't do that anymore. My last air gun was 300 bucks almost. I'm sure it will out live me because it can be rebuilt.

OK so in other words it's kinda like snap on in the tool world. Expensive but can back up its claim for years. How is their warranty? I may start looking into one

Yeti is 5 years, but Grizzly is lifetime (albeit limited warranty)
I based my purchase off price between the two brands... and found my Yeti with a 20% off coupon at REI. Which I then get the REI return on if needed.
RITC is starting to take over too. about 1/2 the price, but when I got mine they weren't around.

I have a Yeti Tundra 45 (and love it), and multiple rambler products and while the soft coolers are obviously quality items also. I did not want to spend $$$ on a second cooler so I picked up an AO soft sided cooler from Amazon for $45. Pleasantly surprised by the quality and ice retention. If anyone is one the fence about the cost of a Yeti soft cooler, check out the AO. If I was rafting tripping or doing activities that were hard on a cooler then I would have bought a Yeti but for a beach item that could be easily stolen, the AO has been fantastic.

We have two of them and love them. They cool better than keeping stuff hot bit it's still will burn your mouth so I guess it good to go. You will enjoy it !

I decided to pull the trigger on the Tundra 65 because I needed a solid stepping stool for the garage.
Honestly though, when it came time for me to buy my own cooler I wanted to buy one and be done for life, as far as I can tell, the yeti will do that.

I thought I wanted a Yeti for really a long time... then I saw the Pelican coolers... I love their cases, have a few already. I think Pelican has a better latch and overall design looks better to me; their prices are a bit better so more competitive to boot...
But popping the hood on these things gave me mixed feelings...
I think I would get tired of a cooler the size of the entire rear cargo area of a 4Runner that only holds one six pack of beer once you get ice into it...
I already own one of those Igloo coolers from Costco that looks like you can store a small body in it, but it also weighs enough that I need two people to load it onto a truck once loaded... and on my last 3-4 day camping trip, it did just fine keeping things cold.
Then I learned about those in car fridges... its pretty hard not to consider an ARB or Englel fridge/freezer... never have to worry about ice, more space for food for the size, and have the ability to actually freeze things, and keep it frozen.
