Theft devices?

So, it comes with an engine immobilizer to keep thieves from stealing the vehicle the traditional way. No alarm will slow down a thief breaking a window nor loading the 4Runner up onto a flat bed.

Yup... I think that we would all be shocked at how quickly rim thieves can have your car on blocks.

- Gap coverage incl. in insurance + custom parts coverage
- ODBII GPS plugged in
- Considering getting Viper + glass and tilt sensor installed, but haven't bit the bullet yet

After I had my motorcycle stolen from secured underground parking, caught the thief on CCTV riding off with the $900 alarm going off, I realized alarms only do so much. The best protection is insurance.

Oh, and sometimes I add this - see passenger seat. Tends to keep them from even thinking about it :)

Which ODB2 GPS are you running?

In all seriousness, if someone stole my car I probably wouldnt want it back. Why pay out the ass for a 2 way alarm, lojack, or some subscription service just to get it back trashed or wrecked and have to deal with repairs, diminished value, and a long term rental? You will likely pay the deductible either way so you might as well get it replaced or paid off. Hell, maybe i should start leaving a map to Mexico on the dash.

My next door neighbor had a 2014ish F250 diesel truck stolen last year at around 3am. My cameras didn't catch much other than headlights of the thieves. But were pretty sure they just popped it in Neutral and rolled down the street about a block, then put it on a flatbed or tried to start it once they had it moved away from the owner's house. Short of a GPS tracker it would be about impossible to stop that type of theft. They never found it. Probably ended up in Mexico. Once it's inside a shipping container - the GPS wont work either. So unless you catch it in the short window before they get it to their chop shop or shipping area, it's probably gone.
