Paracord to the rescue. Ratchet straps S hooks are too big. This is a temp fix. I have an idea for something better. I'll probably do a roof rack next year, but for now, this works just fine.

I was wondering how long before someone asked. Haha. Let me preface this with "I'm a photographer. It's what I do for a living." Most of the shots are with a Leica M, and either a 50 or a 35. Honestly though, it really doesn't matter what camera you use. It's just a tool. No one cares what pot a chef uses. Find what you like, and figure out how to use it best. Like any other tool.
Thanks. I held out on the suspension as long as I could. It's changing Friday. Ha. It's plenty capable, but I want something different. The more time you spend on this site, the harder it is to stay stock anything. Haha.
Additions When I travel solo, I sleep in the back. I'm 5'9" and it's surprisingly comfortable once you level the seat drop. I did the [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] rear hatch switch which is super handy.

I actually have a big trip planned in July. I'm taking my 11 yr old son on a 2-1/2 week mountain bike & camping adventure across CA, UT & CO. Exact route is not yet determined... Gotta break out the maps!

I'm actually thinking something similar. CO in July. If your goal is mountain biking it may not apply, but check out Backcountry Discovery Routes too. It's big in the motorcycle world, but some of it applies to 4wd as well.
Damn. We did just miss each other. Ha.
Right on. Just checked that out too. Though now making me want another motorcycle...

Haha, I can tell.
There is definitely some truth in that. That being said lenses can make or break a camera. I used to have a Canon Xti with 70-200 2.8L, but had to sell it to make ends meet back in college. For the past 6 years or so, I've been using a Sony a350 with some entry level lenses, and it pains me every time I import new photos into lightroom, only to find half of them are out of focus.
I'm thinking its about time to upgrade, but trying to decide between crop and full frame. I shoot a lot of action sports- rafting, mountain biking, and wakesurfing, so like the speed of the crop sensors, but I'm thinking that anything I get will be such an improvement over the sony, it won't matter if I go FF.
There are differences. Absolutely. But a nice house isn't nice because of the hammer used to put it together. In general, the larger the sensor, the better. It sounds like you had a solid setup for what you shoot, maybe head back in that direction.
Additions I never planned on doing this, but here I am. I had some King Shocks installed. First priority was a better ride. For me that means smoothing out the bumps, on and off-road. I'd say they easily cut the bumps in half, and they aren't as jarring. It's early, and I haven't had the chance to get to the dirt yet, but were off to a good start. Second priority was a little more clearance off-road. Third was, leveling the damn truck (mostly). 3" of rake is absurd.
The beauty of this is a bit of future proofing. In theory, I'm set for the life of the truck, with a couple rebuilds along the way. And I have adjustability the whole way.
