Need opinions on what to do I have never done a retrofit before and really dont have the knowledge to make an educated choice between these two options what do you guys think?:

Option 1:
Get New FXR stage 3 setup from TRS 3.0in projectors and Morimoto 3/five ballasts and Philips bulbs
Option 2:
Use used Matsushita gen 3 ballasts that I already have.
And buy used infinity FX ballasts with new Philips bulbs

From my research the fxrs are basically styled after the Infiniti Fx projectors but since you and I are planning on the 3" it will be bigger and cosmetically, imo look better. I was just talking to ambiguous and was told the inside of the shroud would need to be trimmed to accommodate the 3" but it looks superb with that done. How much can you source used projectors and new bulbs for?

Keep in mind that the kits from trs has a warranty and their customer service is top notch. My friend I am ordering for is on his second set of retrofits and he had an issue with a uneven beam caused by the light bulb and it was resolved within the week with no hassle of returning the defective bulb.

Keep in mind you also need to get shrouds and wiring as well. Not much but it adds up.

The TRS FX-R shrouds will perform better than the OEM originals. They have been through several "re-designs" and every time they continue to improve the output of the FX-R. Also the TRS ballasts are weather sealed better than the OEM units. Keep that in mind if you like to dunk your rig in the river. hahah

I signed up for mine...way excited! Saved 25% on all parts and he's doing $10.00 flat rate on shipping to lower 48. If you been thinking about this...there's no better time. It made me pull the trigger!

I went with 35w OEM ballasts and easily sealed them up with silicone. The morrimoto ballasts are pretty good as well.

I also used Phillips 4300 bulbs (oem standard in us market) and if you look at my pics you can see the light output and brightness.

Be sure to read all the product info on their site before buying. For example I didn't know that a 5k or 6k bulb actually produces less luminosity than 4300.

Yep. Read everything as much as possible. 4300k has the most lumen output but some prefer the more white look and go to 5000k at the loss of a little lumens and 6000k for the more blue look with even more lumen loss.

Morimoto bulbs and ballasts are quite good and sufficient for what i want to do. I believe the kits that are 25% only include morimoto ballasts with optional philips bulbs

The way the TRS website works, at least when I ordered my kit around xmas is that you can build and order with a kit (vs piece by piece), say "elite kit", add that to your cart for an instant X % off.

Then during checkout add the coupon and still get the extra 25% off your order.

So be sure to add a "kit" to your cart, then customize it vs. adding a bunch on components individually.

I got in on the last group buy (last week I guess) and mine were supposedly shipped 1/17 but haven't arrived yet... In the meantime I'm sitting on the front porch waiting :bigok:

I ordered the Morimoto Retro-Quik kit with 5000K bulbs for my '06 headlights.

Don't know if this is how things will continue but the confirmation said mine were shipped direct from TRS not Ambiguous. Although I did have to send my money to Ambiguous, then he placed the order.

I'm on the current list...we have 9...need one more.

But, yes, I e-mailed Burt today...and that's how it works. We pay him, he places the order, and then TRS drop-ships the kit to us.

Really? I PM'd him a few times and i was under the impression that we would pay him and then he would receive it and then ship to us or we can pick it up?

I put myself on the list.

Problem: this was a mod i was going to do waaay down the line so i haven't researched exactly what i need/want. Suggestions...pics..help.

it depends how much you want to spend. You get fantastic light output for what ever setup you get, but the more you pay, the "more fantastic" it gets. One thing to take note is the more expensive it is, the more difficult it is to build. I'd say look at the complete kits they offer and decide what you want from the price.
