thermostat housing stud came out?

My thermostat housing was seeping on the outer seam, so pulled it and found the rubber gasket had been pinched. The lowest of the three thermostat housing studs came out instead of just the nut. Am wondering if finger tight with locktight red is sufficient before mounting the housing back? The stud goes in so only threads are left exposed and I do not want to damage those threads using a wrench to torque the stud back in. There is 3/16” at the tip not threaded, I suppose I could use a vise grip pliers to add a little torque from the tip. Am I overthinking this? Or should I get a similar length bolt to use instead of the stud that came out?

When I did it the nut was attached to the stud and came all out together so I just put it back in like it was a bolt and I haven’t had any issues since. I don’t see why doing that would cause issues but maybe wait for someone else with more knowledge to clarify haha

I don't know how much thread is exposed when the stud is fully tightened, but assuming there is enough exposed thread, I'd put two nuts on the stud and tighten it that way. If you tighten the outer nut it will lock against the inner nut and the stud will be tightened.

I've had this happen on a couple of my vehicles.
I've just tightened the stud that came out just like the nuts on the other studs.
I may have put blue loctite on it.
Never had a problem.
They are only tightened to 14 ft lbs.
I just use my calibrated torque wrist.

It's very common for one or more studs to come out when taking off the thermostat housing, just put it back in and tighten it to the required torque.
