I installed the 231mm Tundra brakes today -- went together without any problems AND my wheels didn't need grinding ! They are MASSIVE compared to the stock brakes -- and work really well. Also installed the transmission cooler and it was the toughest job of the 2 . Thanks again for all the help !!

I have these rims on my runner and from what I have read they will rub with the 231mm but not the 199mm.

Congrats, and welcome to the 231mm Tundra brake club. It is widely known that the 5 spoke 4Runner wheels, both your style and the "coke bottle" style fit the 231mm brakes without modification.

what wheels do you have?

He has the 5 spoke wheel, as shown here:

Correct. Your wheels will require grinding, but not much:

You’ll be grinding the split-three spoke 16” where indicated, all the way around

If it will help anyone -- the biggest job on the brake upgrade besides bleeding is trimming the dust shield and it is not a big deal at all. I used a Dremel and some little cut off wheels and cut 3/4" off the top and bottom edges of the dust shield. It took about 10 minutes per side. When I put the new rotors on the rounded center part of the dust shield BARELY scraped on the inner part of the rotor -- a couple of taps with a small hammer moved it out of the way. Like I said before the brakes took less time than the transmission cooler and I did the cooler first. All in all it is a GREAT upgrade for the effort involved !!

I just finished my 231's yesterday and your right, very simple to put on. I am also running the 5 star wheels with no clearance issues.
