Thieves on GPS

This has been a HUGE problem for GPS owners...

Like the article states, the one and only best way to not have it stolen is to remove it (mounting / suction bracket included) and put it either out of sight, or take it with you...

I'm actually really glad they made a statement about the "steal me rings" being cleaned....allot of people DO take out their GPS but leave the residue of the suction cup on the windshield, its like a bulls-eye for theifs. If people see that, they know there is about a 85% chance that you just threw it in the glovebox..

this thread should be moved to the general section so everyone can see it!

For years my wife and I have used a TomTom 910 in one or both of our cars (at least until I got a T4R with factory nav). We never bothered removing the windshield mount and just removed the GPS unit. We believed that if thieves saw the mount still in place they would suspect we took the GPS unit with us (which we sometimes did and it was easier than carrying the mount and cable as well). Maybe we were just lucky but we never had a problem. Go figure....
