Sand!.. I live on kauai(hawaiian islands) and was running hard down the beach (polihale state park)in my 91 3.0....Anyway, I caught I little fire under the hood and had to put it out with sand.(No water out there Bra, but Salty) Burned up all my rubber and wires on the passenger side. I managed to sort it all out, found a donor vehicles and got evertyhing taped up and back in shape. Well months went by and my truck has been acting up. Poor idle, hesitation, shaking so following the advice I got on this forum I began doing the basic tune up drill. Changed the 02 sensor and fuel filter yesterday with no change. Today I swapped new plugs, cap and wires and guess what I see when i Pull number 5 plug? I had sand in the threads and some pieces somehow got in the combustion chamber and had formed a solid piece of glass in the plug gap. turns out I had sand in all the threads, but three and five were espically bad. Runs better than ever now, feels like a real v6 finally. Anyway wish I would have had a warning before running in soft sand, which is really hard on your powertrain(overheat), So i thought I'd post this up as a heads up....Sand! that S**t gets everywhere somehow.
