Congrats on the GX!
I traded my '15 limited 4runner with 15k miles on the clock and some hail damage for a '14 GX premium with 9k miles last year. Still loving the GX, planning on holding on to it for awhile.

I owned a GX 460 and recently traded it at wife's behest. We now have an Infiniti QX60, which is rather different. Missing body on frame, and weight, although the interior is actually a bit larger, I think. Also we sit a tad lower, which I don't love.
The GX 460 was great. It always felt like a mid sized LandCruiser (I've owned two) and did well in the snow when required. I liked the full time 4wd.
My experience with Toyotas has been very good, and mileage is not much of an issue. The only manufacturing flaw I've ever seen was in my '06 LC, and my '07 FJ cruiser where the door lock actuators stopped working because the little motors that run them had dirt on the brushes. Fixed both of them on the cheap with new motors, but would have been better off buying the $230 assemblies.
The only issue I had with my GX in 70k was I needed to make sure the wheels were properly balanced. Other than that, it was perfect. I was also able to get about 21 mpg highway, but I don't have a heavy foot when accelerating, and don't drive over low '70s mph.

You can't go wrong with a GX..or a 4Runner for that matter. Just rock solid vehicles. We had a 04 GX470 for 10 years. not a single problem.. until the wife drove it for 5 miles after the coolant hose busted on the freeway. the head gasket was cracked and off to Carmax it went. It was 200000 miles of problem free ride until that.
Got a '15 GX460, had it for a month until some jassack rear ended me on the off ramp. I was hit so hard, the frame bent and the floor under the rear seats buckled. Limped home with no injuries besides a stiff neck. It was totaled with the new car smell still inside.
we used the new car replacement settlement to buy another '15 GX460 Luxury. smooth V8, all the amenities you can think off besides the rear DVD.. don't want the kids to fight over which movie to watch. beside, they have phones to keep them busy. The air suspension is great, the ride is supple. the body roll is expected in a traditional SUV. So far, this is our family hauler. We took some long road trips with no problems. the only minor gripe I have is the lack of power outlets in the second row seats.

I was looking at the GX470's but they have a zillion miles and most are > 10 yrs old. The age is more important because all the plastic and rubber bits start to break.
The < 2013 GX460 is dope, but I think new ones are ugly the spindle grill that will come off on the first rock.The main problem with the GX 460 is if you want an off road bumper, forget it. There are a few places that will do it, but you have to go there and it will take days I'm sure. So the $2K bumper is now like $5K with travel.
I ended up with a 2011 T4R LE with 105K miles. It's gotten a little bit of love but in good shape over all. It has most of the GX stuff, cause you can't find a GX wtih Crawl Control for sale. It's not the off road beast the trail is but it has a lot of potential and still nice inside, including the 3rd row seat.
If your looking at used ones, my advice is look under the truck. A lot of them have rust or something goofy. Look at the body lines and make sure all the gaps are even because Carfax lies. Look at the crevices under the hood for gravel to see if it's been in the snow or wheeled hard. Basic used car G2 stuff.
