Thinking about buying 2000 4Runner

Hey I was hoping i could get some info on these i dont know a thing about them. i found a 2000 4Runner 4X4 limited with 162,000 miles on it at a local dealer. they are asking $9000 for it. is that a high price low price or is it close to what it should be. all i know is its a one owner car it drove great and i like the way it drove a lot. i guess is there anything that i should look for in it or look at before i get to interested in buying it. also i saw that they have a 90000 mile tune-up. should i have that checked to make sure that had been done. also that would be coming up kinda soon. what all does is include and is it hard to do most of that yourself. any info would be greatly appreciated.

See if you can persuade them down to 8k. Assuming good maintenance, it is worth it. IMO.

Just check when the most recent maintenance was done on vital parts like drivetrain fluids, timing belt/ water pump, coolant flushes, etc.. and the normal stuff.

alright thanks. i have a pretty cheap trade in and i was hoping with that to be able to get them down to 7000

thanks. I think I should be able to I have went with people to buy cars from there several times and they are pretty reasonable and work with you.

Check the engine bay and look at the timing belt cover. It should have a sticker on it with a date and mileage showing when it was last changed. Its 80k interval for the timing belt. If that wasn't done and is due then you will want to discount the price to cover that regular maint. I beleive that the water pump is also usually done at the same time when doing timing belts.

Also, I'd take it to a local independant Toyota mechanic. I just bought a 2000 SR5 Sport Edition with 120,000 mi, leather seats, and a spacer lift for around $9300. It needed the timing belt and a few other things. The seller agreed to split the cost of the maintenance with me so that helped a lot.
