It is what it is. Someones "toy" truck, has no rear window or rear seats. The Oil pressure gauge doesn't work. Oil comes out of the fill cap a bit (I guess this is blow-by from worn rings???) It has 190,000 miles on it but the motor runs surprisingly strong. It has 33 x 12.5's on it. Does this seem like a good deal for 1k or maybe a money pit? I'm in the market because my 88 V6 needs a new motor and I think I'd rather just start again with a 22re. Anyway I'm interested in your opinions.

I'd talk him down... You've got known engine problems and missing parts from the back window that could be expensive...
I paid $800 for an '87 with 208k with a perfect interrior and a great exterrior, as well as no engine problems...

In my eyes anything under 1000 that can drive under it's own power constantly is worth it. Offer him 800 and go from there. The rear glass can be found anywhere from 30+ 100 from craigslist/ ebay and other forums want adds. Not to sure about the engine/ oil problem though. Sound like a good project truck

That oil issue just sounds bad... I was under the impression that if you remove the oil filler cap and place your palm on it with the engine running, you should feel a bit of a 'sucking' pressure on your hand... If it's pushing oil out, that's quite the opposite.

190K, probably is blow by past the rings.
22Rs run great for a while, then OK almost forever.
If it feels strong running 33's that's a good thing, especially if it still has stock 4.10 gears.
Do a compression check.
When was the Timing Chain last replaced? At 190K it's well due for the 2nd new TC. Useful for getting price down.
Same for the clutch.
At 190K a lot of stuff may be due for replacement if it hasn't been already, starter, alt, water pump, radiator ...
How are the brakes?
Does the t-case and 4wd work smoothly?
In my area it'd go for around $600 or so, see if you can get it down, than plan on putting some money into it.
