Thinking about getting a Flomaster 40 series muffler. Got a question on piping, etc

Has the title says I am looking at getting a 40 series flowmaster muffler for my 4th gen 4runner. I am wondering what size piping after market 4runner exhausts use. Is it 2 1/4? I want to make sure I get the right inlet and outlet on the muffler. I am not sure if I want to just swap in the muffler with the other factory parts or get a highflow cat with piping from the muffler back. I see some people here have used just a muffler and were very happy. I want a nice throaty sound, but nothing over whelming so that's why I was thinking about just putting the muffler in with all my stock piping/cat. What are everyone's thoughts on that? Should I add a highflow cat to the mix and redo the piping?

The stock size is 2 1/2, and as far as inlet and outlet i use center in and center out.

flowmaster 40 series may be a little loud for you, a 50 series may be a better choice if you dont want an overwhelming sound. Mufflers - Flowmaster, Inc. Performance street mufflers, exhaust sounds

I have 40 series on my stang, but that's a different species haha. I will look into the 50 series and see how it sounds
