Thinking about getting an 02 runner

So, I am looking at an '02 4x4 4runner with 84k from a reputable Toyota stealership and thinking about buying it. They were able to secure a 7.9% 5 year auto loan for me (which seems good considering I am 21 with no cosigner and only semi established credit) Blue book says its worth about 12500, the lowest they seem to be willing to go is 12k and are asking 13k. I said 11,500 is as high as I will go and they rejected that.

I really like the vehicle and in this treacherous northern Minnesota climate it would be very nice to have in the winter. It seems to be in great shape and you do not see many 02's out there with under 100k.

After bottoming out my last car because of lack of clearance I have decided I really want something with higher clearance for my DD. Should fit in well too for a winter driver, when I finally get my Challenger

Does anyone have any insight at all? This would be my first used car purchase.

I would definitely jump all over that 4runner. I just looked at it and its in really nice shape. Its also a nice Sport Edition model. The dealer is being fair at that price. 4Runners with less than 100k miles are getting harder to find.

What exactly is the difference between the sport model and the normal one other then the obvious? (hood scoop etc.)

If I were to need to sell it down the road, from what I have seen Runners seem to hold their value very well, am I under the correct assumption with this?

The sport has the special skid plate, scoop, bug flares, limited wheels, and the special aluminum colored dash trim.

4runners hold their value very well, especially 3rd gens.

i have a 2002 sport edition and its currently being build for overland.

I haven't had any problems except finding a few after market parts since its last model year.

I just paid $8200 for a 2001 T4R 4WD Sport with 142K miles from a dealer here in CA... BB is reasonable for the mileage.

It's worth saying though - go talk to your local credit union, they have a decent chance of beating dealer financing.

I paid 11k for an 01 SR5 but it only had 78K. No sport model but had the limited flares and 5 star rims. Only thing missing is leather (fine by me), wood trim, digital climate control. Nothing that can't be added at a later point.

I would probably go for it if it's what you want. It is a bit overpriced but as it should be. T4R are great trucks and low miles are harder to come by. The nice advantage of the stealership is that they usually stand by their cars. See if they will throw in some Toyota accessories or something. They usually stay pretty firm on prices but I have bought cars when they said no to the price drop but when I asked for new tires they said sure.

Any suggestions for anything cool to ask for? The tires that are on it are pretty much new, I do however see myself wanting something better suited for off road then Firestone truck tires in the future.

You could ask for some TRD rims. I know that would win me over

Those TRD accessories are really expensive to us but dirt cheap to those dealers. Heck, go all out. Worst thing they will say is no and sounds to me like they have already said no to one offer.

A TRD transmission cooler would be a nice add on. Maybe a TRD Air filter too.

What does the 100k maintenance consist of? I should make sure they do that atleast
