Thinking about getting the Alpine CDA-9884, advice & comments?

I have a 97 4runner. I have stock speakers and headunit. I want to start an audio project, so I'm just beginning.

First, the oem headunit must go. is Alpine CDA-9884 a good choice for replacement?

will it fit right? easy to install?

It'll fit fine, you just need a pocket to go underneath the radio to fill in the gap.

My only complaints are that its a $200 (I see crutchfield has it for $159 now) radio that doesn't come with a remote control, and the display with that sort of dot-style-text can be somewhat hard to read.

On the other side, its got very good sound quality and super easy to use.

I'd suggest looking at the Kenwood KDC-X692. It's marked down to $169 and for $10 more you get a heck of a lot better radio.
