Thinking about removing tailgate spare tire assembly.

Well my 4runner is STILL in the shop so I can't run out and look at it to answer my questions. :moping:
I really don't like the look of the spare mounted on the tailgate AND it is a pain to have to swing out that gate before I let the tailgate down. So my question is, what does it take to remove that whole assembly? and is there already hardware to remount the tire underneath?

Tire carriers are on the gate because a 31" tire doesn't fit underneath with the factory lowering chain mechanism. Could always do a basket and throw it on top, or just throw it in the back. That's where mine is now.

To remove it is easy. Just a few bolts that hold the arm and that to the rear pass side panel. Problem is your plate holder and plate light are on that carrier so you'll have to find a new spot to mount your plate.
