Thinking gen1 4runner

I am going to look at a 87 with 187k miles, hg and timing chain changed out in the last couple thousand miles. Sounds like little to no rust. SR5 with most power options. A crack in the front windshield and A/C not working.
4cyl, 5speed

What do you guys think it is worth?

They were asking 3500 a month ago, down to 2800 now, but I am thinking much closer to 2000, even it is in really good shape.

I have had quite a few toyota's including a 91 LC, 95 Avalon, and now a 98 4runner and 04 Sequoia. But now looking for something with some coolness factor.

Get it. I payed 2500 for one with 270k miles on it. I have now put 6k since and runs like a champ. I have also put a lot of time and had a lot of fun working on it doing simple mods. Painted it to make it the 4runner of my dreams. Love driving this thing. Mine will never be for sale.

Used vehicle prices vary greatly across the US, so take other opinions lightly.
But to me, $2K would be the absolute MAX.

I took a look at the 4runner, it was in decent but not great shape.

THE GOOD

No rust anywhere
All electrical seemed to work
New HG
New timing chain and guides
Shifted strong
Motor seemed very strong
Interior in good shape

THE BAD

Steering needed some work
Brakes needed work
Windshield had a large crack and silicone around the top to keep it from leaking
Brake light on, i think it was just low fluid
Tires needed replacing to be a DD
Exhaust needs replacing

THE UGLY
Home garage paint job with sprayer, and could use some serious work.


The seller went from $2850 to 2500, but I was thinking $2000 max knowing what work it would need to pass the wife's inspection

I told the guy I would be back in town in 2 weeks and would see if he still has it then and wants to go any lower

I also had to help get it started, someone had a mini fuse in the the ignition spot and had a poor connection.
