thinking of Coming back to the 1st GEN!!

well currently I own a 2005 Tundra limited with low miles.
I the past i have owned a 88 and a 89 4-runner, and needless to say i am ready to have another.
both of the previous were the 3.0v6, and one auto and one 5 speed. i personally never had a problem with head gaskets, but i here there are quite finicky.
Im looking at selling the Tundra and getting another 1st Gen, but this time i will be looking for some sort of swap, wether it be a V8, Diesel, V6, or any sort of turbo possibly 1J (as long as i can maintain the 4WD).

Any recommendations as the best rout to take.

Make your way to the Classic section and you'll get lots-o-advice. Don't mind the pesky 2nd gen'ers though, they really have no other place to go.

Tons of swap options but if you're looking for something sub 10k, I'd stay with either a 3.4 swap or 4.3 swap. You're just going to break alot of stuff with a domestic V8 and while the diesels would be super cool, I just can't see the extra cost and effort paying off.
