Thinking of getting aem intake just for

Thinking of getting a aem brute force intake for my 01 sr5 3.4 v6 just for the better filtration advantage. (I know it's not going to add any h.p). Had one on my 04 wrx and really liked the build quality and fit and finish. I've heard one the few weak links to our 3rd gens. is the filtration on the stock intakes. I love my truck, and plan on keeping it for a long time. Any feedback or opinions are much appreciated.

I've got one on mine and I love it. Lots of people will say screw it and do the deckplate and isr mod cause CAI is way too expensive... I might have done that had I done a little more research before I went ahead and purchased it, but I've got it now and I'm not complaining. I really like the dryflow system and how it doesn't need oiling like the K&N's cause there've been many problems invovled with that. Like you said, I like the fit and the finish. It clears up a lot of clutter in the bay. For what it's worth...i like mine.

If you didn't buy it then I really look hard at a pricey intake and see if you feel it's worth the money for what amounts to an aesetic mod vs hp gain when compared to the deckplate.

There's plenty of 250k 3rd gens out there and they've just run the stock intake and I've yet to read about the intake ruining or shortening the life of our engines.

no doubt, there are better ways to spend $200 but the same goes for anything anyone does...ie wheels, exhaust, seat covers, decals/tint, etc etc.

And like maiden said, I've never heard of filtration or airflow (proper that is) hindering the performance aspect of our trucks.

$200 for looks under the hood is especially pricey since other mods can at least be seen and at tint does provide a very useful purpose but $200 can go toward real useful mods that either produce real power or improve off roading capabilities.

It's a shame that there aren't companies that make a cheaper intake system for these trucks. I would love to clean up the engine by a bit but spending $200 on an intake system just doesn't seem right to me, and the ISR mod helps but just looks a little like a hack job to me. I really like the airaid jr. but its also a pricey piece. I'll most likely end up keeping my K&N drop-in and having a custom done job for the intake piece to delete the silencers.
