Thinking of JDM...

i wanna make this 2wd clean but not too ricey how can i make her clean JDM without getting out of control?

Burtman industries would be a good place to start for JDM type stuff. Stuff like clear corners and clear blinkers, JAOS rear spoiler, door sills, etc..


But there are a lot of other little interior stuff you can do also that aren't necessarily "JDM".

Little stuff like LED dash and gauges, LED Dome Lights, JDM Field monitor, DRL disable, fog light mod, LED Blinker bulbs, LED Tails, LED Plate lights.. All of which I have done and documented in my build if you are interested.

for the led blinkers, did you replace the bulb or the entire housing, i have all led except for brake and turn.

Did I say blinkers? Whoops, meant to say corner lights, still have regular bulb blinkers.

If you already have all LEDs than check out the field monitor

Yeah, the Field Monitor Unit is a great JDM item you can add (if you can find one now that JDMNZ is gone). Check my build thread (link in my sig) to see mine and some links to others.

The other thing you could add is the front mirror. I think it is pretty ugly, but it is a very distinct JDM feature.

JDM is something different from the norm you see on here. There are select few on here really approaching their builds with this theme in mind. I decided to go this route, adding bits and pieces that I could find from Hilux Surfs in Japan. It was a long process overall, but in the end I liked it and is not everyone's cup of tea.

yea i wasnt too crazy about the field unit bc no offense to anyone but it looks like a POS, i think im going to go with lower profile tires and upgrade the rims to 19", if anyone knows anything about LED blinkers or where to find the ideal bulb that would be greatly appriaciated.

I am not offended by this, I am just confused what the hell you are talking about. How does it look like a POS? It is a stock Hilux Surf feature, and integrates perfectly to 4runners. I mean, you asked about how to make it JDM, the FMU is surf, surf is JDM. Other Hilux Surf features are the parking mirror (mod work to the front), the rear tire carrier (BIG mod work to the rear, whole new tailgate), rear spoiler (you could go with a Jaos as they look very similar, but are expensive). You can do clear corners like many guys have done, but other than that, I am not sure what you are looking to do to it.

Are 19" rims and low profile tires what you think of as JDM? Not trying to be snarky here, it just sounds like you want mall crawler, not JDM. Unless you do go with the hello kitty wheels. I mean let's be honest here, is there anything more distinctly japanese than hello kitty?

Where do you find these parts from Japan? can you give some links possibly?
