Thinking of selling: '99 4Runner Limited 93K

Hello all,

I'm thinking of selling my 1999 4Runner Limited 4x4, Silver, Auto. I'm located in Chicago, IL. It's got the rear locker, leather, rear heater, sunroof, tow hitch.
Has 92,8XX miles on it. New tires at 80K.

Cons are it has the p0420 code, so might need a new Cat.
Some scratches on the hood, plus the hood doesn't close completely. It latches but isn't flush.

What can I expect to get for the 4Runner?

When you say " My 4Runner " how long has " My" owned it. Did "My" owned it for several months or years or " My" just bought it to flip. Kinda important to this bunch for vehicle history.

If you have problems with the hood during the photo shoot. Why not take additonal photos showing the hood position. You seemed to have been very detailed with the photos and the obvious photos ALL buyers of a Chicago town vehicle would want to see are the undercarriage for RUST.

Looks clean, whats the history?

I'm the 2nd owner. Owned since '07. Original owner was a lady who also lives in Chicago. Basically used it as a daily driver. I've put 10K on it per year. Never taken it off-road. Just pressed the 4wd button during heavy rain or snow.

I tried to make the pictures look as professional as possible. The location was the top level of the parking garage at this mall near me. Right now I'm not really in the process of selling. Just seeing how much it would go for.
 
I wouldnt pay more than 2K for a truck throwing a CEL. If its that easy of a fix, fix it first. In california the seller is responsible for a smog within a month prior to the sale, or the buyer can assume responsibility. So It would be a major PITA for the buyer.

Any CEL is a major sign of lack of maintenance on the sellers part. Most people fix the problems right away. Trying to sell it with the code looks like you may have been driving around with a problem.

Just got the P0420 CEL last week. Not too in a hurry to fix it since I passed emissions in Feb. '11. Maybe once I get my tax return. Anyway, anyone want to give me a value on the 4Runner as-is?

That what i was saying 2K max with the code (for me anyways its an unsure deal). fix it and i think you probably have a $7,500 truck
 
Really it will depend on some other factors as well. Has the timing belt and water pump been done? Rust is a big factor. Does the 4wd system work flawlessly? They sometimes get stuck from not being used. Also depends on your market out in Chicago.

I just bought a 2000 Limited 4x4 102k with locker in amazing shape for 8500. I would say you could get about 10k or 9.5k if you fix the CEL and hood.
