Would a right hand drive car have engine components on opposite sides? It looks to me like the alternator, radiator hoses, air intake etc are opposite to what I have, a '91. Definatly looks like the 3VZ-E though.
I see the headrests don't look like they are removable. Does this tell us anything about the year? I know my 3rd and 4th gens headrests are both removable.
Looks like a 3rd gen 4R. The one thing that caught my eye was the rear liftgate. The 1st & 2nd gen has a split design whereas the 3rd & 4th gen has a single piece design. The D-pillar doesn't look like it belongs to the 4th gen. So my final answer is that it's a 3rd gen., unless this is a trick question and the vehicle isn't even a 4R!
It's definitely a 3rd or 4th gen. Look at the rear window. It has a curve to the lower corners. 1st and 2nd gen T4Rs have a right angle in lower corners of the rear window.
If it's a 4Runner, second gen. Looks like there's a spare tire hanging off the rear tailgate. I don't recall any other gen that had a rear mounted spare other than early second gens.
