This car have any promise?

As my fruitless search to find a manual 3rd gen that isn't an I4 continues, I've found this one:
1996 TOYOTA 4RUNNER
"4x4 not working". Is that a common problem? Or does it mean I'd be in deep if I got it.
Also miles are higher than I'd hope, it's just hard to find these.

I also came across these two better looking ones:

-looks like the guy maintained it quite well but it's way up there in miles.

Have you read the buyer's guide here on the site?

And no it's not common or normal for 4x4 to be "out" -- One of the main reasons you purchase this vehicle is for the 4WD capability.

Yes I've read the buyer's guide several times, I'm also aware that people buy these for 4WD, as that is what I'm doing. Thanks though.
