In the video, they reconnected the battery and added a bit of diesel before starting the engine.
The videos beg the question; when will Toyota bring a diesel to the US. In the UK their diesel Landcruiser (same as the GX here) wins all the comparisons with Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes, etc...
The brand new UK magazine 4Drive is especially high on Toyota. http://www.4drivemag.com/ Since I can not subscribe here yet, I buy it at Barnes & Noble. $10 each. A very good read all the same.
If gas goes to $3 as some think, or $2 as those well informed think, a 30 mpg diesel 4Runner sounds a lot better.

That reminds me of the time I had a 1970 144 Volvo. It was built like a tank and rode like on too.

Anyway, a large Ford LTD pulled out right into the front of my Volvo. Both cars were sent to the junk yard. While waiting for the tow truck, I decided to try and start the car. Despite the fan hitting the hood it started right up. That was a tough as nails car, not as tough as that Toyota pick-up though.
