Perhaps in certain areas, but I know that the islands, especially Maui, are covered with trails and dirt roads that wind all over the islands. It's wheeling and dirt bike heaven

Haha wheeling is not illegal? maui, big island and kauai all have good trails, mud holes, and crawling. On big island we have plenty lava and if no one is looking you can drive anywhere

Are you saying it's illegal to wheel in most places?

No its not illegal, same laws as the mainland Im assuming. Most of the places I go to require offroading, it's totally normal. There is a lot of private property that people crawl/mudbog on, but there is also a bunch of places that are open to anyone who can make it. Most of our trucks are tacomas with 6-8+ in. lift with super swampers

It's the reason it cost so much more to rent a 4x4 on the islands vs a 2wd. There are trails everywhere. Everywhere

I lived in Oahu for 5 years and am finding any opportunity to move back! not quite as good as the other islands but more opportunity for work for us "mainlanders."

Lot's of nice Yota's, take yours you can't afford one there. There are great places to go, however... most is private land. In general you can have a great time but if your hoale..... well just make friends, going alone isn't the best idea.

I wheeled as much of Big I as I could and it was amazing, though there were a couple sketchy situations involving rocks and spear guns. Oh.... and did I say Safety Check Sucks.... they don't give a shit about emissions but if your body lift is too high its and issue. Then again i guess when you deal with vog.. no real reason to care about emissions lol.

Oh ... ps.... lava rock can do things to tires and your body like you've never imagined lol.
