it even looks like a 4runner. I'm so skeptical of those high towing numbers with an engine like that though. starting price is $70K Canadian approx. for that price you could buy a used 4 runner and wrangler and build both up nicely

I think it's a handsome vehicle, one that might appeal to those wanting/needing to replace their aging 4Runners, but don't want a 6th Gen. Apparently it isn't destined to the US.
The Tremor package on other Ford trucks adds some nice off road features, but also packs a lot of luxury items not necessary, in my opinion. But Ford isn't the only manufacturer forcing buyers to pony up to paying far more for off road packages if they don't want to build their own.
Off road worthy vehicles - and vehicles in general - in the US are getting way too expensive. Motor Trend recently did a three-way test of the Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch, Jeep Wrangler 4XE Rubicon X hybrid and the Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition. As tested prices ran from $69,150 for the Bronco to $79,045 for the Jeep. So, for the estimated $51,400 USD at current exchange rates, that makes the Ford Everest Tremor a relative bargain.

For comparison, in 1992 I bought a 3 bed/2 bath w/.5 acre corner lot for several thousand less than the Bronco. I paid $22k and change for a brand new '02 Toyota Tacoma TRD. And in '19 I paid a few dollars over $36k after tax and license for my '18 4Runner SR5 used with less than 25k miles.
