looks good, but the fact that the drivers seat is so worn from only 90k and he mentions nothing about it being 'low mileage' seems fishy.
 
The seller has it listed as "off-road" and there's no license plates on it. It may not have a current registration or emissions/inspection issues.

I wouldn't either. It's also entirely possible this guy lives 5 miles from work and gets in and out as much as anyone else over a 15 year period, but just doesn't go anywhere.

I'd be all over this if it were local. Obviously a Carfax and all due diligence is in order, but that looks like it could be a pretty sweet truck.

As long as it's well-maintained and warmed up before driving. A daily driver with 89k mi worth of 5min trips might be pretty heavily worn in and beat up overall--moreso than a 150k mi truck with mostly hwy miles.

Just a thought.

Yeah, frequent cold starts takes a toll for sure. These engines hold up so well though that I'm not sure it would worry me all that much, and the rest of the major components are going to be in great shape. Just think about shocks and springs and bushings that only have 90k on them! Some of them may be suffering from age at this point, but I'd still be all over a 3rd Gen with 90k on it.

If that thing were within an hour's drive of me I wouldn't be sitting here typing right now. :fro:
 
Yeah, I'd be all over it too. Just saying, it's not a guaranteed gem and he should probably vet it as well as he would a high-mileage Runner.
 
anyone else notice that in picture 8 you can clearly see that the seats are oak colored but the door panels are grey..........


or maybe that's just me or the picture...
 
I do see the dash as gray.

you guys are so detailed, all would have been great advice and things to look out for.

I know I am daydreaming now, but if the mileage is correct, I would supercharge it and find a locker and/or aftermarket locker cause I know 01-02 didn't come w/ lockers.
 
first of all, it doesnt have running boards, which would account for the condition of the side of the seat. secondly, does the seat side always match the interior? it seems to match the seats. which are all the same color.
 
The wear on the driver seat is normal. The driver seat on my '01 with 215K looks the exact same. They really shouldn't have made the bolsters so aggressive.

Just noticed that the rear cargo tray and factory trunk carpet are missing. Might want to bring that up if you plan on buying it.
