This vibration issue has me confused

Had a little vibe at around 70 on test drive. Dealer balanced front tires and it was ok. Week or so later it came back. Took it back to dealer and they road forced it for me. Was good then 7 days later the wheel is visibly shaking back and forth. Nothing uncontrollable but typical tire balance symptoms. What is odd is that some days I drive to work (30 miles of highway) and its vibrating in wheel from 60+ and then 12 hours later on my way home its smooth. It has 265/70/16 GY Silent Armors and one was "repaired" before I bought it according to service records. Im guessing the tire(s) are bad but not ready to dump $7-800 for tires HOPING thats it. Its going back to dealer again tomorrow. After the road force 3 wheels have weights outside in 1 spot and 1 wheel up front has no weight.

Not likely in this case but I have seen a similar case where the person who mounted the tires on a 4runner used silicone spray as tire mounting lube. When the truck left all was good. After a few hundered miles the silicone let the tire spin on the rim a little throwing the balance off again. I say it's not likely in your case as it sounds like tires were not mounted recently and any such lube should be gone by now, but it still may be worth marking the tire and rim and checking it after a few days to see if they move apart.

Well they had it up on rack for a couple hours checking everything. All was good and said the tires (GY Silent Armors) were bad. They put on a set of Michelin LTX M/S tires (265/70/17) and its a whole new ride. Quiet, softer, and just real smooth. Toyota dealer charged me $780 for the tires, balance and alignment. OUCH!!! Oh well, wanted to put quality rubber on a good vehicle.

It is possible to get a out of round tire. I had one on my motorcycle Michelin Pilot Powers and the was waaaayyyyy out of round no wonder for the shatty ride.

check your steering rack bushings. i had a similar issue and my bushing were shot, i think its a $20 or $40 fix.

Ahh yes nice suggestion! Wheelers has the Energy Suspension rack bushing kit. Wheelersoffroad.com. Not gonna lie for a 20$ fix it was truly a real fuzz to fix and instal.

My rack bushing kit should be in by the end of the week! To the OP, I have a repaired Michelin Cross Terrain tire and was told that sometimes that can cause balance issues so the repaired tire should stay on the rear. I used 2 plugs to repair the monster hole but got all tires balanced on a roadforce with no problems. FWIW, I'd always pick Michelin over GoodYear

I had some Kumho tires where one tire refused to balance. Turned out I had one Kumho (gotta love that name) that was not round and replacing the ***** fixed it. Last time I go cheap.

As it has been mentioned, it could be an out of round tire. You could also have thrown a belt inside the tire and causing the issues...
