It seems there's always something.

When I put it into reverse after pulling to a stop, it will lurch forward a bit before it backs up. Is this a bad sign or something to just be aware of and live with?

The other thing I was noticing is that When I press and release the brake, usually when I'm working into a parking space, I can hear a squeak from the rear brakes when they are released. Doesn't seem like it would be normal, but I only noticed it for the first time with my head out the window to check my park lines plus it echoed off the car next to me.

Two things come to mind:

1. Your axle seals (inner) are leaking and not allowing the rear shoes to disengage right when you begin to move. You will see differential fluid around the axle if this is occuring.

2. Since you drive through a lot of snow (assuming), one if not both of your bellcranks used for your emergency brake are rusting/rusted and not allowing the Ebrake to move freely.

How did the replacement of the drivebelts go?

I'll keep an eye on leaks. Basically it will make the sound each time I pump the brake, even if I put it in park, and actually after about 10 times it will stop until I let it settle again during some riding or a long sit.

The belts are waiting in the back of the truck. I've been super busy, and they haven't been making too much or really any noise. I figure I've got them in case something catastrophic happens, and in the meantime I kind of want to clean up the engine bay a bit more (spring cleaning) before I change out the belts.

FLUSH YOUR TRANNY!

I had this issue in 2007, whenever I would start the truck in the morning and backup. I have since done a FULL tranny flush and the problem hasn't come back.

Argh. I replaced the transmission fluid and filter last summer. How complicated is the flush compared to a change? I probably won't do it myself, but want to know how much it'll run me.
