I would like to know what shock you are running; length and valving. I bought a set of Pro-Comps awhile back to get me through a lean financial period and am looking to get a nicer set now.

Id rather not pull off the shock and measure the collapsed length and extended length and thats where I need your help.

What are you running, what do you like about them and what do you wish was better.

I am running Wheeler's Offroad Rough country shocks. They are super cheap I know (pretty much the only thing i have cheaped out on), but and there is a but, they ride amazing and they are an extended travel shock so they work well with lifts up to 4", just a thought.

I use the extended length bilstein 5125's. Have had this ome 891 and shock setup for years now with no problems. You get a lot of flex out of it. Too much in fact if you don't extend your bumpstops. You'll end up popping coils out. I speak from experience lol.

Why not run the OME Nitrochargers that are designed for exactly the weight of your truck and amount of lift you have?

I run them with Tundra 5100s, the ride is okay but for going very fast over decent sized dips and bumps the shocks don't have enough damping or the spring rate is too high.

I just kind of extended the stock one with some metal fabbing.

It's a good setup, definitely allows for a lot of travel. I'd love to get some extended length icon or saw w/ resi's but like you said, it's expensive as hell lol.

The 5125, are shorter then the 5100 version. And on toytec, the 5125 do not require extended bump stops. Only the 5100( long travel )

While yes, that's true, they still provide a great deal of travel. They may not require them but I'd highly suggest them.

Bilsteins, I had the OME shocks for 7 months and hated every minute. They were way too harsh unloaded and back bounced with minor road imperfections. All resolved when I switched the shocks out with Bilsteins. Night and day difference in ride quality

^ This. I too ran the OME shocks... their "comfort" 60028 shocks and they sucked. There was only 1 situation where I liked them... and that is when I had many hundreds of pounds in the rear for a camping trip. The other 99 percent of the time my kineys/back/passengers hated the uber harsh ride.

I switched out to the Bilstein 5125s and the problem is solved. If I had anything negative to say about the Billies, it is what was mentioned up above from Snivilous... and that is during high speed travel over larger dips or bumps they allow a bit of a "bounce" as if the shock can't keep up with the coil. Other than that, they are pretty much ideal.

I have been running stock landcruiser shocks with my landcruiser 7.5 wrap coils. However, I noticed that one has started leaking and I wouldn't mind replacing them with an extended travel landcruiser shock. I've seen some members on here run them (I believe crazydubman does?) and get some ridiculous flex.

I'm running 891's with Bilstein 5125's. The shocks are great, and the springs are compelte junk! I would not recommend 891's to anybody looking into getting new springs. I'm running under 200lbs of additional weight and have lost nearly 2" of lift in less than 4k miles.

I discussed this with some guys at the jamboree this past weekend. I guess I got a good set b/c I haven't lost much lift. I've lost some but not as much as a lot of other people have. I will agree that the general consensus is that too much weight will make these sag.

The issue is that less than 200lbs is not to much weight. For a spring that is rated to carry an extra 300lbs minimum, shouldn't sag that fast. I was at the jamboree this past weekend, and think I saw your rig a couple times. The new LED light bar brackets was a dead give away! The springs where great on the trail, and do have a nice ride. I just don't like the fact that I have a rake going to wrong direction. There were two others in my group that both had similar issues with the 891's. I'll be switching out to some LC coils next month.
