I've been looking through these forums for a little while now and have really enjoyed seeing all the different things that people have done with their 4Runners. I thought I would post a pic of my little upgrade to see what people thought. I've got a JVC touchscreen in the front and this is whats in the back:

Nice setup. That thing must hit hard. Take a video of the system and post it on youtube and share the link. I think a lot more people would appreciate the thump.

To answer your questions-

Yes, it hits hard. Probably a lot harder than I need it to. It is built to JL specs (at least pretty darn close with the curves and all). I still need to do some more Dynamat in the back door and possibly another layer on the sides.

As for it being removable, with some work yes. Didn't want it to be too easy to walk away with. The box weighs about 200 lbs so its not like I'm gonna be moving it too much. I put the amp and cap on the side so I still had some room in the back. The box only takes about 15 inches so it's not too bad. I'm thinking about making some sort of barrier that I could easily put in front of it so I can load crap in there without worrying about messing up the box.

nice box!! how does it sound with such a box?

It sounds great. You can't go wrong with JL Audio. It doesn't matter what I throw at it, it sounds good whether I just want a little bass or if I want to rattle the 4Runner apart.

A guy from work and myself took out the meter we use to calibrate audiology equipment, but it goes into overload at 125dB. Other than that, no, I haven't.
