Find a local import shop that tunes JDM stuff etc. and get them to quote you out a full custom turbo setup.
I thought about this cause there is literally a shop less then a minute from my school, but since I couldn't afford it at this time I decided to save mine and their time

exactly how mine sounds too. great little vid, the suspension articulation in that first shot he's coming down the hill is rad.

How does one quantify the butt dyno measurements of hp gains from exhaust or intake?

The butt dyno is a logrithmic function of the smile factor. The bigger the grin, the more power you have to be making and sound does that for some folks. I changed out my back tire on my mtn bike last week and now my bicycle makes 40 MORE horsepower. I rekon with the mods to my bicycle (brakes, wheels, chain ring, pedals, tires, seat) my bicycle is now at around 120 HP.
Age old cross-polination of the "Muscle Car Forum and the Off Road Forum".
Even IF the CAI and Cat-Back produced REAL RWHP (lets say 1-3%, which would be huge) You simply would not feel it.
A noticeable change would have to occur very Low in the power band AND it would have to be 10%+ at the wheels which would be that plus 18% to account for parasitic drive train loss and the cost would be Thousands of dollars.
Real power is expensive.
Rule of thumb: $1000=10RWHP
The inexpensive gains are not practical and those are weight loss, something we simply do NOT do in the 4wd/off-road world.
So, my advice. Love it/wheel it/ IF you want a noise maker - put a Magnaflow on.
As for power adders (i.e. super chargers, turbos, strokers, whatever) say Good-Bye to off-road performance OR reliability OR fuel economy.

Sorry to bring back an older thred... First timer here.. I've searched several times and read as many threds as i could but don't see anyone doing a straight back from the cats.
Has anyone done this? I was thinking of doing an electric cut out and a turn down or run a pipe all the way out.

if you want it to sound like a fast and furious Honda civic, do those things you mentioned above.
Oh a real engineer would not be rekoning but would be building one of these:
Build a Bike Dyno- calculate YOUR HORSEPOWER!
BTW, got new grips on mine for Christmas and I estimate my mtb is now at least +10 HP now.

I know a lot of guys are running magnaflow and no matter which one you get they all sound great but I used to have the 24" on my old 3rd gen and it always seemed too quiet. On my 5th gen I got the 12255 which is 18" and couldn't be happier.
It has a tame note on the lower revs and anything 2.3k revs and up just sounds like angels blowing muffler trumpets.
Also put a tip on and had the installer turn the pipe straight out the side behind the tire. Had to be different than everyone else of course. Will post pics of you think you might like that look.
