throttle body question

I just changed my sparkplugs and I had the intake tube off....I checked the TB as long as I had it all apart. How come when you manually open the blade via the cable, it only opens at max like 60% . However, if you manually push the blade open, it goes all the way?

Got the car a little over a year ago with 80K miles. Now have 104K. This thing runs great.

If you have the electronic throttle, it will only open all the way if you have the key on or the truck is running

well, theres a cable on the front side and what appears to be a motor or sensor on the back side. one for cruise control and one for the pedal?

yes, one is for throttle, the other is for cruse and the motor on the back is called the throttle position sensor, it works along with the computer and injectors to give you fuel with your added air...

He means if you twist the throttle it only opens 60% but if you push your finger or something else inside, you can push the throttle plate all the way open.

You have a throttle position sensor which is for the ecu. Then you have a throttle motor position sensor which actuates the throttle motor. Then of course you have the throttle motor which only works when energized. That percentage of throttle opening you see with the key off is the fail safe amount of throttle in case something fails. That way you can move the car so you arnt completely stuck somewhere

Awesome. Search function is a friend sometimes (sometimes its just a wild-goose chase). I cleaned my throttle body and MAF sensor last night, and was worried about this very same thing. Now I know.

To anyone who hasn't done this before, it's the easiest thing in the world, next to greasing the drive shaft (which I also did last night) and am glad I know a bit more about my truck and didn't pay to have this done.
