Not sure what happened. I cleaned the TB, maf, and visualy inspected the TPS. Did not remove anything from the tb other than the tps. Started it up and reved it a little by hand via the cable pully. it seemed normal. then i reved it via the pedal and the pedal now goes down half way before engaging the tb. Wide open is now half throttle looking at the butterfly. There is no slack in the cable. turning the pully on the tb by hand now engaes the butterfly only after about a 1/4 turn of slack is taken up. Totally baffled as to how this happened.....
