Hey folks,
I recently installed a new transmission (reman) in my 4runner and I am still having some shifting issues. Mainly I feel it when trying to use the passing gear. It doesn't know gear to go in - it seems like. SO, Im thinking it might be a bad TPS. I ohm'd it out and it read open (infinite) on the 2 separate IDL-E2 tests. The other 3 tests came out within the resistance ranges. It just seems like I would be having other noticeable problems if that TPS were bad. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

There should be a switch attached to the shifter that tells the ECM what gear it's in, maybe that needs adjusting. Or the kick down cable (if there is one)

Passing gear? I don't think these are fast enough to have a passing gear.
Try hitting your OD off button manually to see if that helps get you to a performance level you want. Maybe do this on an onramp as a test. You can also go through the gears manually to check that everything is working and just needs an adjustment.

It appears to be working...

I checked everything you guys said. It all checked out. I had set the kick down cable adjustment per the Haynes manual, initially. I put all the slack out and now it works perfect. Not sure why this is the case but it works great now. Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate it.
