Thule modification for factory crossbars

I have a '98 4runner Limited with factory roof rack and crossbars. The latter are flat. I want to put a Thule hullavator rack on it, but it will only work with square or round bars. I have found several used hullavators at reasonable prices. But Thule web page tells me the cross bars and other parts I need will cost $400. There's must be an easier, less costly way.

I dont think the hullavator requires Thule bars, only round or square ones. Anyone know of a less expensive modification?

Thule sells an adapter to fit oval bars, I have it on my ski rack.
Give me a sec I will find u a link.
Well they say it only works for the ski carriers...
