Ticking noise from the rear

I can't take it anymore.

At highway speeds I have an annoying ticking noise coming from the rear of the truck. I have noticed it before on occasion but now it is constant and driving me crazy.

I have gotten under the back of the truck with a flashlight and some WD-40 but I have yet to find any indications of rubbing or a pile of leaves/grass/whatever that could be making the noise.

I know it is coming from outside b/c after I drive in the rain, the ticking stops for a day or two.

I have done a search with no success and I believe taking it into the stealership, although still under factory warranty, would be major waste of time...

I have the same problem with my 06. I usually hear it when going under 30 mph, uneven or bumpy road and it is coming from the rear compartment, drivers side.

I'm getting serious this weekend looking for it.

I can't think of anything on the unerside, unless your spare is gone and the holder is swinging down ...

If you have the cargo area cover, sometimes the plastic clips that attach to the headrest come loose and tap the aluminum cross bar. Otherwise, I'd check the area where the jack is. Also, check your roof rack crossbar, maybe one is loose.

I am pretty sure it is coming from the wheel or tire. I rotated the tires and now the noise is coming from the front. Took it to the dealership and they said it was the brakes. Replaced the pads a gave it back to me.....Same thing. It's going back in in the near future.

Check for small rocks stuck in the tire tread... I noticed the same thing here and that was my conclusion...

I have the factors CT tires on mine...

It's not a rock or nail or anything to that sort. This has been going on for 10,000 miles at least. I usually only hear it on road trips and it gets louder the longer it runs. After about 300 miles nonstop it is pretty loud and annoying...
