ticking noise

I have a 2000 3.4 v6 with 61k. I keep hearing a ticking noise, it is pretty common under moderate acceleration, seems to be louder in the morning and also seems to diminish when it's raining. Is louder on steep hills. It seems to be coming from the engine compartment. I do not have a check engine light coming on and it recently passed inspection.
So far I have replaced these items or checked to see if that was the problem:
spark plugs, went with platinum NGK's
spark plug wires, checked only, good resistance
cleaned MAF and O2 sensor
changed catalytic converter
had fuel injection clean done at a Goodyear
had exhaust manifolds looked at, no signs of leaks

I am out of ideas, the noise is really annoying me. Would an old battery cause any other components to make noise, is cleaning the MAF not enough? Could it be a bad fuel injector?

Help appreciated

Probably isn't the case but my fan unit ticks when I have the air on and the amount it does fluctuates too so just throwing that out there. Other than that, I have no idea.

It's the fuel injectors and it's normal you mean to tell me the jerk-offs at Good Year did not tell you this and just took your money?
