Tie rod end brands

I’m looking to replace my front inner and outer tie rods. I’m seeing on rock auto there are plenty of different brands to choose from with varying prices. Are tie rods something I can go cheaper on and it will still perform? What is a recommended brand for tie rods? Inner and outer? Should i use the professional level tie rods? Any insight would be great help thank you.

In my experience you get what you pay for. I would recommend OEM for inner and outer. OEM will give you the longest part life. If you decide to go aftermarket and plan on keeping the vehicle for awhile then I would recommend buying a lifetime alignment from somewhere to cover the next time you have to replace them.

I'm giving the Moog Problem Solvers a shot for the outers because they have a zerk fitting.

Don't even waste your time with anything else. Japanese made parts are the real deal.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m just now reading this and it’s a lil too late haha. I ended up going with Mevotech. Hopefully it works out.

Tie Rods are a hard one since the price difference is soo extreme between the 2. At least with tie rods you dont have a horrible failure like ball joints. Keep us updated since i need to replace my at some point.

I know plenty of people what with napa and had no issues.

Yes keep us posted on life of these parts. Otherwise I will also say OEM is where it's at. I know folks like 555 as well for tie rods but I believe you need to paint them since they come unpainted otherwise they rust quick...

toyota outers are not that crazy high on difference, when comparing quality brands, however the inners is a different game. thats where toyota price is crazy high and I would have to consider aftermarket on that one, like top quality aftermarket for 50 copared to 180 for toyota.
But dont go real cheap, ive seen tie rod ends, inner and outers for under 10 each, to me those have to be junk, like slap on a car and sell car quick type junk.

Moog is generally no better than the cheapest Chinese junk except they charge a little more. Greaseable joints are generally not known to be an improvement for these things either.

these days I wonder, other than "toyota", what brands are NOT cheap chinese junk? Just some chinese junk past first inspection after being made and get a more premium name, others became other brands as they got closer to the dumpster. Would not be surprised if lots of brands are built in same factory, heard a lot of brands of appliances are all that way.

Seems like 555 is actually good for anything Japanese except the 3rd gens. Proforged might be made in China but is actually an American company selling good stuff.

NAPA Chassis is pretty good, lifetime warranty, Moog is also okay, lifetime warranty (last Moog LBJ I got was a 555 part in the box), 555 is an OE manufacturer for Toyota and are okay. Genuine Toyota is best, but probably a one year warranty and quite expensive. Off brands, economy brands, etc like Mevotec, NAPA Proformer, Quicksteer, Duralast are usually not good a investment and typically carry only a one year warranty.
