Tightening Throttle Body Cables?

Alright so I know this has been brought up numerous times and is probably in some thread somewhere but anyways I am in the process of tightening my cables because they seem a little loose but I have no idea what I am doing.

I see the three cables, I see the nuts to loosen and tighten, but I don't know specifically what I am trying to do. I know that I am trying to make them tighter but I don't understand how to do this with the nuts on each cable.

Could someone post a pic of specifically what to do or anyone who has successfully done this? Any help is appreciated!

One is the transmission kick down, one is the throttle, and one is the cruise control. Just adjust the throttle one first, loosen the two nuts on each side of the throttle bracket, and take up the slack. Then tighten up the other two accordingly.

They're supposed to have a little slack. If you tighten them too much your rpms will be higher, and you'll shift harsh. If they're sloppy, and they need adjusting then stare at it until it makes sense.

Is it safe to assume this would fix the slack in the pedal as well? My pedal has about 1.5" of travel before it catches the throttle. Or is there an adjustment under the dash at the pedal itself to help as well?

Should take it up nicely. This is the first thing I do every time I buy a used car, makes it feel "newer". :)
