Time for a rebuild??

Well after actually getting out this summer on a few camping trips in the 85 4runner, I think it needs an engine rebuild. I am not getting any funny sounds yet, but the poor lil fella is just Gutless at the top end. I can only seem to go faster than 62mph if I am pointed downhill. Even with a lot of pedal left, flooring it does nothing. It does have 300,000 miles and an uncertain past.
I can deal with this in my 74 VW Beetle, but this is not too cool for the 4runner.It seems strange that I have no leaks or unusual sounds, just no power.
*Sigh* The summer is just getting good and I am hoping it will limp through the season, but I want to avoid Catastrophic Failure on the road.
Any ideas on what else I can do besides a rebuild right now to help the Whimpyness?

When's the last time you tuned it? New plugs and wires, air filter, pull the throttle body and clean out the goo, etc...

I did a full tune up in February. Also changed every fluid in the rig.

Could be a fuel related thing. Did you do the fuel filter too?

I did do the fuel filter, but the rig had been sitting for a while. It could need a changing again if crud got up in there. I will check out that option. Thanks.
