Time for a Tune-Up

Alrite - I have a 97 Limited V6 - Auto, and it`s time to get the whole "maintenance and tune-up" outta the way. I got the up-coming weekend off and praying it won't be blistering hot out.

Spark Plugs and Wires
Distributer Cap and Rotor
Fuel Filter
PCV Valve
Air Filter,
Timing Belt and Tensioner
Water Pump
Front Brakes and Rotors (with new pins and guides)
and of course a good ol fashioned oil change.

Now - what am I missing off this list that I should be doing while up under the hood?

You do your own timing belt? Add a digital camera to that list and give us a write-up on how to swap that bad boy so us DIY'ers can give it a shot as well. I need to change mine and am a little worried about taking care of it on my own.

Never really thought about writing up a DIY - but come to think of it - taking step-by-step pictures with greasy arse hands may be a no-no for my new $400 digi.

But if I get a helping hand - I will get them to take the pics :beer:

It has coil packs not distributer caps, at least my 98 v6 does. Think 97 is the same. I posted a spark plug change a few pages back, but if you are ready to change the water pump you probably don't need any guidance.

Wrap it up!! Get a plastic bag and just cut a hole for the lense. I love reading writeups. I would be forever grateful. I want to see the brake change especially, well and everything else really.

Do not buy the Haynes Guide it is a big steaming pile of shit for this generation of 4runners. It was completely useless. I haven't found a good one yet unfortunately. Maybe Im too demanding.

check for the Full Service Manual (FSM) on ebay... should be on a cd and be around 5$

I would be happy to buy it from someone here for $10 if they could burn it. Guy who sells them on ebay has terrible feedback.
